History
As president and part owner of an electronics firm, TAB Founder & CEO, Allen Fishman, guided his organization from a private to a public company. Once his company went public, Fishman found he received business advice, ideas and motivation from his board of directors—guidance that was lacking for owners of privately held businesses.
After an early retirement from the company, he began developing the "board of directors" concept into The Alternative Board®, established in 1990. Today, Fishman still facilitates the first TAB Board, with many of its original members from over a decade ago.
TAB eventually moved its home base to Denver in 1994 and began expanding across the United States, Canada and South America. Since its inception, thousands of businesses have benefited from the TAB process.
