Jack
(Facilitator): “Now that the speaker has updated us on the
most recent survey of
the local economy and everyone has their cup of coffee,
let’s get into the meat
of our meeting. Frank can you give us an update on your
“reorg” and start the
meeting by presenting your issue for board input?”
Frank
(Member): “I’ve completed the layoffs of the
non-productive department. I don’t
know if anyone here has encountered this, but I’m having
trouble attracting
quality employees for the creation of the new department. None
of the laid off
people were qualified.”
Michael
(Member): “Clearly defining not only the technical but
also the interpersonal
skills needed for positions and then creating behavioral
interview questions
reduced my turnover by 80%. I also use pre-employment
assessments.”
Jack (Facilitator): “Who else has had success
recruiting and maintaining
talented people?”
Susan
(Member): “We co-employ our people using a Professional
Employee Organization to
offer our employees benefits that our company couldn’t
provide before. We now
compete with large corporations’ benefit
packages.”
Other issues commonly covered by TAB Boards include
